I picked it up today, it came in a pretty new cardboard box but I haven't taken any pictures yet and rather than spoil it by telling you all what it is, I'm going to wait until tomorrow when I can take some really nice pictures and then you can see what it is! :p So until tomorrow........................... :butthead:

Reminds me of the old Charlie Brown and the football trick. The fact that it comes in the special box narrows it down a little.

Hmmmmmm! a clue, it's packed in a pretty card board box. That excludes most guns as they now come in plastic boxes.
A pretty box ???? My best guess is an item from Victoria's Secret. :p

He opened the case of Pabst, drank it all, and is sleeping it off. We at least got to see the pretty box he spoke of.

Great looking box!! I might like to add one of those to the collection on the shelf in my closet. If you don't mind me asking, is that factory blue, or has it been refinished?

Well, it looks new to me but my eyes are getting older, maybe it used to be nickel plated?

I didn't get the bayonet in mine. I guess I better call Colt and complain.

I think the bayonet was a limited production thing......used to open a new can of worms?

Many thanks to all of you for the compliments, this appears to be a very well put together piece, no defects that I can see. Serial number in the low 5000's, so its over 4000 made now. AJC Sports may have more of them!

Very nice 1911 are you going to use it or store it. I find it interesting that the Blue Booklet has the Springfiels Armory Arsenal Seal on it. I wonder if Colt is paying them some kind of royalty.

That's cute Rich!! :p I guess anyone could post pics and say "look at what I got" but in this case I actually did open the box and find the gun inside. (and I'm glad I did, it cost too much to just be photos ;))
Thanks for the kudos Joni, John and Noah and you too Rich! :D

Very nice Jeff. I seem to have missed this thread initially.
Of course with the way you teased everybody about the pictures, I think Gunny let you off way too lightly.
A beautiful pistol though.

I am with Frank, I have no idea how I missed this thread but at least I did not have the suspense many others did, easier on my heart.
My friend you have gotten yourself another very nice Colt! When (or if) do you plan on shooting it?
jeff1124
26th September 2007, 04:38
It's such a fine piece of workmanship that I cannot see myself not putting it to use (ew, double negative) That being said, with hunting season right around the corner, I haven't been reloading much 45acp lately, so I guess I better get on the ball. I'd love to have it in a display case to look at more often but it's off to the safe, to stay safe!! :D

Jeff, Best of luck hunting, and I know that you will enjoy that new beauty.

Congrats on your new Colt, Jeff!I really like my WWI reproduction, that and it was my first Colt also!

27th September 2007, 00:23
You better not shoot that 1911 repro, because if'n you do, you'll shoot it again, mine works like a champ and there is just something about it that makes it special. Very accurate and smooth.
Congratulations on your new pistol!

Thanks Dave, I will consider myself warned! I still haven't seen any Quality issues and I've had it apart 3 times, do you think maybe there isn't any? :D Love the hammer, even though I've always been partial to the Commander loop hammers before, this one is a beauty.

Jeff, my pistol has a serial # 2XXX and doe not look as great as yours does.
I hope you are really planning to use it. A lot of people buy these WWI reproductions just to have them sit in a safe. I am one of them.
