Wishing to convert one of my 45's to 40 S@W. My main question is with the barrel, and the top locking lugs fitting the slide. Do they spec out the same as a 45 ACP barrel. Probably just going to use a drop in barrel, or maybe a Kart EZ-Fit.

Then I would need to know which ejector and extractor is used, and an opinion
on firing pin diameters. In all likelihood it will be done to a Springfield, which is already using the small primer diameter firing pin.

Thanks

I doubt that you could get a .45 breechface to work with .40; even if you had the correct parts, installed in a .45 slide, they'd be in the wrong location to work with the smaller round.

Well, I was hoping you weren't gonna tell me that. The thought did cross my mind. Probably then I'll pickup a slide assembly providing the frames dimensions are interchangeable.

Appreciate the info, thanks

Its almost cost prohibitive to buy the slide and barrel even if the frames will interchange.
Plan "B" is buy a new or used pistol in 40 S@W.
