Howdy! Name's Ron, and I'm a newbie here.

These are my two Rock Island's, I just picked up the Compact tonight. I understand that the skeleton hammer and the beavertail aren't supposed to be on this model. I heard that RIA made up a batch mistakenly fitted this way for Sarco, and I guess I scored one of the last ones. WOOHOO! $340, plus $26.xx shipping, and $15 for the transfer, so around $380. I paid the same for the GI model, got it at a Farm & Ranch store.

I really like 'em, but I haven't shot The Pup yet. The GI has been flawless.

Nice guns. The clip on the compact 7 or 8 rounds? What brand is it?

That's a 7-round Novak magazine. I have 3 of the 8-round Novak's for the GI model, I like 'em...they seem to function the best so far. I have a McCormick Shooting Star mag and a Novak look-alike, and neither of those will eject properly...I have to pull them out.

I like 'em just fine! Easy to install and adjust. Works great, and that's a powerful little laser, I can see it several hundred yards away at night. After I bought it, I found out they also have some nice checkered burlwood grips with the laser.

Wow! I really like that compact. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for something like that. I've never had any experience with the RI brand, but I will be stopping by a small local delaer this weekend who as I remember may have a few in his case to get a closer look.

Welcome to the forum!! A Rock Island Armory GI was my first 1911 and it runs flawlessly.
I'm very interested in the Compact! Does it have an alloy frame (light-weight) or is it steel?
Oh yeah, congrats on the purchase ;)!

Steel frame all the way.
