Local Store charges more than MSRP!!!!

Went to a local gun store in charlotte, nc!was looking around when i noticed a Nib blue Colt Gold Cup!Then I saw the price!!!!!! :eek: was marked at 1399.99!!!!so I called my friend and we kind'a got a good laugh out of this situation!!!!This store has a repitation of being one of the highest priced stores in the state!!!!just as a side note!!!!we both bought SS goldcups in the 900-950 price range!!!!!!WTF!!!!of coarse this was at a diffrent store!!!!has anyone ran into a situation like this before????? :D

Here in PA there aren't any dealers that price guns at MSRP, the ones that did all went out of business years ago! Sure there are some dealers that ask a little more than others, but everyone I know checks prices before they buy. Some are willing to pay a little more if they know they will get good service. I have often heard dealer friends complain about the low profit margin on new guns, but like most anything else the market sets the price, if they want to sell them they must price them right. They are also the same guys that complain about people going to gun shows to buy a gun instead of their local stocking dealer, I have always thought that an area that has gun shows stimulates trade at the local shops.

Well it is "suggested" retail price. That doesn't lock them in to anything. They can price it to what the market will bear. If it's too expensive, it won't sell.

For example, a shop here in SoKal had a blue NRM1991 priced at $800 all year last year. It never sold, and may still be there for all I know. Even with the recent price increase, it's still more than $150 over MSRP. Yes, they're hard to get here in Kali, but apparently not that hard.

I live in Atlanta,Ga. and most shops are marking up the Colt's due to the low supply, but that price does seem excessive.

Yeah, I've been to Hyatt's once. That was enough. If I feel in a charitable mood, I'll find someplace besides a retail gun shop to dump my extra cash.
There's a gun store in Kernersville, NC called the Gun Rack (between Greensboro and Winston-Salem) that as far as I can tell is as reasonable on new and used prices as you'll find. Also Ed's Gun Shop north of Southern Pines. But a lot of people know about Ed's cause they're at all the gun shows, while few know about the Gun Rack. (And I am absolutely NOT affiliated in any way.)

Yeah. its funny...The Bullet Hole had one middle of last year for 875. Fall of last year, a clerk at Hyatts told me that Colt hasnt made any pistols since 2000...in fact , that blue Gold Cup at hyatts now is the FIRST new Colt they have had in years. It sometimes amazes me how ignorant gun store personel can be...AND how ignorant they think the buying public is. I really ought to print out a bunch of internet prices on the latest batch of blue Gold Cups and show the "knowledgable" boys at Hyatts. I do like being an A**hole sometimes....
