hello all new guy here

i am a glock owner for 14+ years

i just picked up a new"old" west hurly" AO

i've put 300 rnds through it so far no problems except due to a bad mag.

i am totally new to 1911s but i have to say i LOVE this thing!!!

i bought it from a very good friend of mine who bought it new

his guess is 20 some years ago or so give or take a few...brand new

it had less than 20rounds through it i paid 200.00

my question's are...

did i do good

and is it worth it to slightly customize it?

the grip safety has worn a hole in the web of my hand lol ...

thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.
You probably did okay.
It's worth it if it's what you want.....only you can decide that.
If it were mine I might do some things to it but I wouldn't spend a fortune.

thanks for the reply:)

i've already been lookin at other 1911's but my pockets are shallow lol
3 kids and all that goes along with that...

if its a good base if i can do a little at a time that would be great....

but if its not a good starting point i would save my money and look at another 1911.

i am ..have been lookin at taurus/kimber custom and SA millspec..

but it would be a bit b4 i could get one...

i just really like the way this pistol feels in my hand and shoots..

it just feels right.

kickin my self in the butt for not goin this route sooner.. lol

Ops, welcome to the forum and congrats on the new "old" AO!!! I would say that you got a great deal and if you are happy with it then that is all that matters!! You might also want to check out the RIA line of pistols. They are great and priced right. :) :)

Welcome to the 1911 crew! Glocks are good in their own ways, but like you, from the very first shot I ever put through a 1911 (didn't even know it was a 1911, it was just another gun on the range's rental shelf), it just felt good in my hands and shot straighter than all the other guns I had tried. That particular 1911 happened to be a S&W fitted with Hogue rubber grips.

1911's are an addiction, sadly I am without one right now (long story, look for my posts in the Sigarms section), but I'm saving up for another one becuz I simply can't be without one for too long :)
