Has any body with a SA 1911-A1 Blk SS had problems with the feeding of Hollow Points esp. Federals. (45acp)? The gun eats FMJ 's without any problems.

Mine did at first, then I had a gunsmith polish up the ramp a bit...that helped a lot, but didnt eliminate the problem (think he wasn't agressive enough) then it went back to springfield and they polished some more and replaced the barrel...hasnt jammed since.

If a 1911 jams hard no polishing will make it work. Folks, leave the feeding ramps alone, it's usually not the culprit for the problems. Take it from someone who considered mandatory to polish his feeding ramp with #600, #800, #1000, #2000, #4000 and #8000 emery clothes before he was satisfied.

Mine feeds Golden Sabres great and my ramp while not rough by any means is not mirror polished either.

I understand the whole idea behind people's stigma AGAINST polishing the feed ramp and why that is not always the culprit...but seriously some of you people are getting a little crazy about it. Sometimes, believe it or not, polishing the feed ramp DOES improve the functioning of a weapon. Before you call me ignorant understand that I do comprehend the scenario behind a 3 point jam as well as stem bind and the effects a barrel link can have on an ill operating pistol. If you will note, I said that springfield replaced my barrel...this came with a new barrel link which I believe was the final cure for my issue. But also recognize that SPRINGFIELD saw the need for polishing the feed ramp themselves, I did not ask for that...they thought it would help.

I polished the ranp and throat with a felt Dremel and Mother's metal Polish. Now it shoots everything with not a BURP.

Glad you went easy with the Dremel. The "D" word is much feared within our community. Many a-working M1911 has been rendered useless by a Dremel.
