My dad gave me a M1911 Series 80 Government model last year, and I've found it to be a nice gun, it has rosewood grips, and it is blued. I will upload pictures when I get a chance. It seems to be an accurate shooter so far!

It's a nice pistol. Great way to get the feel of shooting the original. We'll look forward to your photos.

I shot a Glock the other night at the range, it was nice, but I prefered my M1911A1 better, there is just something about the 1911 that makes me want to shoot it more then the Glock..

Congratulations- My first 1911 was also a Colt Gov't Model Series 80. I got it from friend who was a competition shooter and had some seriously nice stuff.

This pistol was the beaten up one (relatively speaking) in his collection. He didn't want to put the money or time into fixing it so he offered it to me when he heard I was looking for one. It had no front sight and some of the internals needed to be replaced. I asked him how much he wanted for it and he told me it was mine for the price of the repairs. All I had to do was fix it up and shoot it. He didn't want me parting it out.

With a little money and some effort the thing runs like a champ. -While I'm considering spending money on one of the higher end 1911's, I don't think I'll ever sell this one. It just shoots that well.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
