Anyone know who manufactures these magazines for Colt? Mine are unmarked, and searching the forum yielded no results.

Thanks.

Colt gets magazines from Metalform, Check-Mate Industries, Okay Industries. and I have a vague feeling I may be forgotting one more ... but I can't remember.

I guess I should have clarified ... which one of these companies currently manufactures the WWI repro magazines?

Is Ludlow one of them? Ammoman has GI contract mags made by Ludlow in Massachussets for $79 per Qty: 10

Metalform makes the WWI reproduction magazines for Colt which have a M mark. Pictures may help identify yours.

Ludlow makes the paper for the wrapper on the others.

Metalform probably made the magazine. They have them available with the lanyard loop etc.

Colt buys magazines from
Metalform stamp is an M
Okay Industries stamp is an O
Checkmate stamp is a C
There is a fourth stamp G that is believed to be Mec Gar

I thought it might be Metalform or Check-Mate. My 70 series mags were made by Check-Mate ("C" stamped on the bottom). Like I said, the mags I received with the WWI were blank.

Mine are blank/unmarked also. And I've wondered who made them, but never thought to ask.
I can't put my finger on it, but something about them makes them seem diffeent from "the usual suspects" (aside from the WWI features). Maybe it's the finish before bluing that seems different.

Ones I've seen have the M mark. However, at least some factory issue must be unmarked due to the number of observations. I've seen internet auctions trying to represent these as original loop magazines. Perhaps Metalform started marking them when that happened.

Mine are unmarked as well.

Gentlemen,
I have/had a lanyard loop magazine that is marked 'mexico', yes mexico! The spring was the first thing to go. I then chucked it into a bucket of water to see if the adobe would melt. NAFTA at work. It has since been disposed of. I could not put my life on the line for something maked, 'mexico.

Too Bad. Do you have any idea how many things in your life, including
quite a few people, are made in Mexico?

The "G" does not represent Mec-Gar;

OD*, hope I am not getting the thread off track with the "G" marking.
From the letter you provided we know G does not mean Mec Gar. Any more info on who it could be?

You're not getting us off track Sir. ;)

The only "G" marked magazines I have seen are the counterfeit jobs, similar to these fakes passed off as "reproductions."

Interesting, I just found this site last week http://www.gunclips.net/colt1911.html and via email I asked them to confirm the "factory" 8 round mags were Colt factory in Colt packaging. They confirmed that they were Colt factory, but purchased in bulk with no Colt packaging. The SS "factory" 8 round mags look like Colt markings with the G.

I didn't go forward with them because of the Devel follower. Not my favorite follower. Pays to read the forum. Fake and/or bad mags are a source of great unhappiness.

I see the Mec-Gar marked magazine, but I don't see the ones mark "G"? The only ones I see showing the base are the "M" Metalforms, what ones am I over looking?

If they are infact factory magazines that is a good price.

My factory stainless 8 rounders are marked the same on the base plate, except that the "G" is a "C" and they include an "S" on the other corner.

Edit: And it took me a bit to find it the first time too... :D

The 1911 and WWI repros with the lanyard loop mag-

That is "THE" classic elegant look for the 1911.

The mags that came with all of my WWI repros appear to be Check-Mate the manufacturing/finishing is an exact match with the C marked Colt mags.
