Stainless steel 1991-a1 with old roll mark. Gov't model. plain black grips, series 80. They want 350.00. Am I about to get hosed?

Unless it's inoperable, or horribly disfigured, it sounds like a good deal to me.

I have to agree with k217sc......if it's in decent shape....it's a very fair price

I'd probably buy it, if it worked. Anything less than about $500 for a working, decent condition Colt is pretty good.

+1 on above! Barring any major malfunctions/rust, etc, it sounds like a very good deal.
Can you post pics?

I can't remember what my blued one cost me from my discount dealer in Virginia... but it was WAY over $350.00/NIB!!! In ss, even if it's gently used... ESPECIALLY if it's NIB... GET IT!!! You're getting a Colt's for a a bargain basement price, and I'm WELL pleased with ALL my four Colts, including a USGI M1911 from 1918.

If it is in original configuration and condition is good that is an excellent price.

sirs,
say the 1991a1 was black chromed, will it hurt the 1991a1 orm's value ???

It would to me, because Colt didn't produce them that way, others wouldn't be bothered by it at all. ;)

Well, I got it. It was used, but not abused. Came with one Colt marked mag, a Checkmate stainless. So far, have only put 100 rounds of Blazer Brass 230 Grain FMJ through it, but, WOW! Firing this thing is a religious experience compared to my Steyr m40-a1 in .40. I'll get a pic up soon. Thanks for all the help, guys. Any thoughts on using it as a CCW?

That's a steal. Buy it before somebody else does.

Contrats! Let's see some pics :D!

Absolutely! IMO, a Colt is the very best CCW, Gov't model or otherwise.

I think it's waaaay over priced, and you should avoid it at all cost....now just so I don't stumble into some gun shop and get the same Coltitus attack, tell me where this overpriced Colt is, so I can avoid it? :D

Not too sure about the SA grips. I have properly disassembled , oiled, and cleaned her, and Bubba has been nowhere near this thing. Wat'cha think? It was originally 449.00 used at Cabela's in St. louis. I got it the day they marked it down to 349.00. It was so dirty, I don't think they thought it was worth that. Yahoo!

I feel sorry for you that you got 'taken' by such a pistol. It's ugly as sin. And since I'm a generous, nice, helpful person, I'll reimburse you your money, throw in another five for your troubles, and pay shipping if you'll send it this way.:D I mean look at it, the grip screws aren't even lined up the same!!!!!
daveohno
28th September 2007, 04:42
For the price you paid, you can buy some nice stocks for that pistol and use those Springer stocks for range time!
