I have a Colt Gov. 9MM that I want to convert to a 45 acp. Is there a 45 kit available? The 9MM is not very accurate and I would prefer the 45 ACP.

A .45ACP is not more accurate than a 9mm. You'd be better off selling your 9mm and then buying a .45acp government model.

If you want to sell the 9MM, it might go pretty quick for a reasonable price, they are fairly rare.
I'm not sure that there is a conversion kit for what you want.

To answer your specific question at one time there was a .45 conversion kit BUT it was to convert the Service Model Ace (a .22) into .45. You can assembly a kit to convert your 9 mm into .45 BUT the conversion would entail replacing the ejector and a complete top end (slide, barrel, barrel bushing, recoil spring, firing pin and spring, etractor, recoil spring guide, recoil spring cap and slide stop (did I miss anything)).
You know it would easier to sell the 9 and but a .45.

Thank you for your advise. In this case, I'll keep the 9mm as is, and purchase another .45. I purchased a Colt XSE Gov. and installed a Wilson mag well, sear, hammer, extended mag release, and trigger. The pistol operates flawlessly, as smooth as glass, and the trigger is approx. 3-31/2 lb pull. Shot groups are tight and will get better as I improve my skills with shooting the .45. I thought about a Colt Gunsite, Special Combat, or a Wilson custom.
Any advise about the three would be appreciated.

Both are great (GREAT) guns...depends if you want a gun for carry/defense or bullseye, IPSC shooting, etc. One has fixed sights, the other has adj. sights magwell etc. It all depends what you're looking for...but probably you'll end up with both.;)
Don't have any Wilson so I won't comment...(but a L.Baer...yes)

I'd agree with the above post that the guns you consider are all top-o-the-line! Those two Colts you mentioned are awesome! I'd second that it does depend on what you want if you need to choose just one. Otherwise buy 'em all!!!!! Wilson' are great guns. You may want to check out that section of the forum for a more thorough assessment.

I have noticed Colt 9mm Govs and Commanders go fast if the price is halfway decent. I would also have voted to sell or keep the 9mm and buy a .45 as they are far more common. Over the years there have been articles for making a 1911 in 9mm more accurate and also loading for accuracy (if you reload). Might be worth searching the net at least.
