Got a new to me Gold Cup Trophy.

http://home.att.net/~duckryder/O5070X.jpg

Hopefully range trip on Sunday.

It is used and has had some work done on it by a local smith (at least allegedly) I broke my rule of buying used 1991's that have been worked on because I know the local smith and he has a good reputation.

I guess the range trip will tell the tale as to whether I'll be sorry for breaking my rule or not.

If all goes well it will probably go to the custom shop for a similar treatment to my O1070XSE. (Detailed HERE (http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=33762))

I will add my request for serrations "Like an old gold cup".

I am thinking I must not hate stainless pistols as much as I thought I did or I they wouldn't keep following me home...

Larry, Radar, Tony, AZ, and Justin thank you.

Tony, I don't have the list, the former owner apparently takes all his 1911's to the smith and he has quite a few.

From what I can see...

The feed ramp has been polished (not overly, but of questionable value) the barrel polished and the dimple smoothed (also not overly, but of questionable value) it has an oversize bushing in it which appears to be an EGW, and a Wilson guide rod complete with shock-buff (the buff at least will be going, again I am pretty sure GCT's come with a FLGR so one wonders why?) and it has either had a trigger job or it came with a really good one from Colt.

It had a Wilson drop in beavertail and factory'ish rosewood double diamonds on it when I bought it, both already changed...

Nice beavertail. My Gold Cup did not come with the FLGR and I just installed a Wilson one. I use this for IPSC and I also installed a smith alexander magwell, a large magzine release and a hightail beavertail ( I have to change this with the other style wilson beavertail so there would be no gap with the short tang, but it will do for now).

Those are great looking Gold Cup Trophys yall. I will not even post a picture of mine because she is a little rough.
I believe the GCT to be a fine example of a tuned Government Model.

Nice new Colt DuckRyder! I think the "model O" will go nicely! Do you have any pics of the OS bushing? I'm tryin' to get a sense of what they look like installed.

+1 on another fine Colt Tonyniev! I like the addition of the S&A...my personal favorite 'well. What kind of mag-release is that?

Good looking guns. The Gold Cup Trophy is an excellent shooter and a fine example of what the 1911 should be. Heres mine

Eli,

It has an EGW carry bevel bushing that has been bead blasted on it in the picture. Here two pictures of the one it had when I bought it, which has not been bead blasted that I can tell. It would look a lot better blasted.

Any idea when it was made DR? I have one that is a 1997 model, it has the flat top.

Nice Gold Cups, all of them. I like stainless because I sweat alot in the summer and you know what that does to a blue pistol. But I never liked blue as much as I am beginning to now. It's growing on me.

Thanks DuckRyder. So the bushing in the first pic of the thread is the EGW? Is the non-bead-blasted bushing in the post above an EGW as well?
I like the look of the bead-blasted OS'd bushing as well.

Nice Gold Cup...........I like it in stainless. I think if it was mine I'd get a Smith & Alexander grip safety put on it. (without speed bump)

So the bushing in the first pic of the thread is the EGW? Is the non-bead-blasted bushing in the post above an EGW as well?

The one in the first picture in the thread is an EGW drop in carry bevel bushing, it is hard to see the bevel from the photographs angle, but it makes the bushing look thinner to me (although it is not actually thinner). It was bead blasted with very fine media (probably glass) used to clean pistons.

I have no way to know for sure, but yes, I believe the non-blasted one is an EGW as well, it is identical to a blued EGW I have. It would look better to me if the edges were at least slightly broken and it was blasted.

I will try to get some better pictures tomorrow or Sat for you.
