I wanted to do the small radius firing pin stop modification on my RIA
38 super. Are the stops for the 45acp and 38 super interchangable ?

Bud gave you the short answer. The long answer is: Since the .38 Super/9mm ejector is closer to the centerline of the frame, a firing pin stop has to have a wider notch cut in the lower left corner in order to clear the ejector. The EGW oversized firing pin stop for Series 70 pistols fits .45 pistols. Their Series 80 firing pin stop has the wider notch so it will work on .38 Super or .45 pistols.

Hi
I'd contact EGW and see if they can make up one for the 38. I would not want to guess what the cost would be, but I'd at least ask the question.

They already do. Their Series 80 firing pin stop.

You can also modify the series 70 stop to give you the clearance you need. I have done that for firing pin safeties and adjustable sights. Start with a hand operated rotary tool or bench grinder to get in the ball park and finish with a file and emery cloth. I like the appearance of the series 70 stop and the extra contact with the hammer.

Aha! I was just about to start a thread asking the identical question about a stop for my 70 series 9mm Colt Commander. Mr Berryhill just plinked two birds with a single stone. (Or at least I think he did.)
