Ok! I'm ready to try some "small" changes to my Colt Defender, it's at the gunsmith now getting a flat black duracoat. I'm looking at replacing the Teflon trigger with a Wilson aluminum group. If money is tight "and it is", what changes can I make to the internal working and do it myself. Any recommendations? Should I go with say, Wilson parts or are there others just as good. I'm also getting the impression that short of barrel and springs most 1911 parts are interchangeable. I'm still trying to deal with this since I have the Defender is a short 3" barrel and I'm not sure what else may be shorten.
Anyway comments and opinions welcome. How can I trick out my Colt Defender without breaking the bank? (oh yeah, I'm not replacing the grips.)

Here it is with the Duracoat and my favorite picture of "Hoppy" when he came to Dallas back in...well, I was shooting cap guns at the time.

You can change the trigger with a Greider match trigger (aluminum w/ 3 holes), change to btail GS with a Wilson upswept BTGS (a little work is needed on the GS to blend the Wilson BTGS with the frame (do not touch the frame), Wilson officers mainspring housing (steel), change hammer, sear, disconnector with a Cylinder & Slide, change the grips (I prefer wood) to exotic wood panels.

You already have an aluminum 3-hole trigger and Colt sear, disconnector and Commander-style hammer. If it was my gun, I'd leave it alone and learn to shoot it well.
That Defender is already "tricked out" and if you find it's reliable, just enjoy it because you're not going to make it better.
