Hi guys.

I've done a lot of work on my RIA 1911 Gi. Unfortunately, I am not able to mill my slide for front and rear dovetails. I have no good local sources. First, I'll have to decide what sights I want. Next, I'll need advice on where to send my gun to have the dovetails cut.

Now, I know I want a tritium front sight. I also know I want a fully adjustable rear. I want the rear sight to blend in well with the slide and to sit low on the slide, like a blended bomar or something. I don't particularly like the look of Novaks.

Does anyone have any sight models they can recommend for me? What about gunsmiths for sights?

Thanks.

Go to Brownells and look up items 135-000-001 and 662-005-180.

Thanks gans. I was originally torn between that one and the Heinie:

Any opinions or thoughts on which is better? I don't particularly want to use a roll pin.

I will be getting a plain Bomar adjustable installed in a low melt dovetail.

Gans, the Champion tritium front sight came in the mail today. It has a deeper dovetail than the Heinie I was originally looking at and it also has a hole so it can be pinned. I'll package my side, firing pin stop and front sight up and ship it out to you, probably Monday.

I think I'll also have the Bo-Mar rabbit eared.

I'll call you today to go over a few things before I complete the order form.

Thanks for taking the time to answer all my emails!

The roll pin is your friend. It keeps the front sight from moving in the dovetail (or completely falling out). Otherwise you need to fit the front sight to the dovetail very tightly. Even it you do that and use loctite with the installation they sometimes fall out.
