I am looking at a stuffed Pit Bull slide for $70

I'm either going to stick it on an old Sistema frame or I could just buy a no name frame

I have been told that the PBs were Commander frames with Officer slides. fullsize frames with Commander slides and even full size frames with Officers slide

What was their configuration

and is $70 a good bad or indifferent price for a loaded slide

Looks like they are an Officers slide on a Government receiver.

$70 for a complete slide sounds like a very good deal. Ever price slides?

Yeah slides are expensive but one that doesn't work is worthless

Is the PB a full size frame or just a full size grip

The guy selling his sent me a photo of the slide on a fullsize frame and the rear of the slide sticks back a bit

From the rear it looks like the slide is not going into battery

If this is an easy fix I would be interested in building a gun around the slide but if I have to have a proprietary slide it isn't worth it to me right now

Just for general knowledge, I've not heard anything good about floridagunworks lately, be wary.

I have a Pit Bull. It is definitely a fullsize frame with an officer slide. Of course, I was under the impression that commander frames were also full size with shorter slide lengths.

Anyway, a PB slide is a 3.5" barrel dual-spring setup.

Yeah, I wasn't familiar with commander and just found out that the grip was the same size
The frame itself is different in a few ways

The fact the slide does hang back in the rear tells me that possibly the Pit Bull is a Comander with an Officers slide

Here's a photo of the hang back

That's kind of weird. My slide fits flush with the frame. I'll take a pic when I get home from work.

Maybe the Pit Bull frames were so slightly different that they matched up, but the slide was not a 100% fit on non-AO frames. But, that is just a wild guess.

You wouldn't have a Govt model laying around you could try that out on do you?

Sorry, no, I don't. This is my only 1911, at least for the time being.
