I have a DW cbob(45acp) and the slide stop never worked from the first day. Magazine followers would run but the slide stop. DW has great customer service and the sent me a Grieder brand (Oversize) that will require fitting. I dropped in a Kimber 9mm/38 super and gun is perfect. Gun will run with any type of good magazine and any factory ammo. Tried a Brown slide stop and gun would only work with 3 magazines out of 12. I know a lot of people don't like the mim parts. My local smith said the gun is running good don't worry about the mim part. Smith also check the gun and said if I were to buy another slide stop make sure I get one for a 9mm/38 super because the pad goes into the frame deeper. The pad on any brand 45 slide stop is just to short to catch the magazine followers. I fired 200rds yesterday with the KIMBER stop and gun was 100% reliable. I own several series 1 Kimbers and one has been fired a great deal and never a broken part. Any one ever heard of using a 9mm/38super slide stop in a 45? Opinions or advice appreiciated. Thanks.

I have a Daly EFS 45 that I tried to install an EGW stop into. Same problem as you had with the pad being too short. My correspondence with George at EGW indicated that a 9mm/38super stop would fix me up. I have not tried one yet, as the old stop is working fine for now, and this is just a range gun.

I used a 39/9mm slide stop in most of the game guns I built.

I think the good Capt. had a typo. I'm almost positive that he was abbreviating " .38 Super/ 9mm" Slide Stop.

That or he's REALLY customizing! ;)

I am so sorry about that typo that I couldn't sleep a wink last night!
I meant to say that is was a .38 Super/9mm slide stop that I used to get from Colt. They broke a lot and I sent them back a lot. Now I get them from the beautiful Mrs. Grieder.

What I drink is really none of your business, but I will tell you anyway!

I drink Tonic Water with a squeeze of fresh lime out of a $17.50 thermal Gunsite Glass. I like it without the gin...........................

I have gone without alcohol for 41+years and I really miss it the most when I am on a gun forum.

Just curious, where did they break, and why, if you know. Only the 39/9mm stops, or .45 also?

Sorry Captain....I certainly don't want to be responsable for driving you to drink........I think that is Tuners job.

just a clarifying question: is the issue that the slide is not locking back? "Magazine followers would run but the slide stop." run but == run by?

i fixed an early slide lock issue by making the slide lock plunger detent more pronounced and raising the follower pad. if yours isn't locking and a new lock doesn't work, perhaps check the fit of the magazines in the well; your mag catch may be holding the mags too low or far back.

Capt. Eagle - my favorite is 1/3rd tonic water, a couple wedges of lime juice, a bit of ice, then fill the rest with Coke. been drinking it for years, but it still doesn't have a name... reminds me of another top-notch refresher, the Arnold Palmer.

man, an Arnold Palmer is just about the most refreshing thing when you're in an alkali flat desert for a week.

Tuner is the man for driving me to drink, except he doesn't even faze me. I remember what he knew six years ago. I love messing with him and I am sure he would say the same thing about messing with me. We have had a lot of fun! I have always liked him and he knows that. After all, he has taught me everything I know about 1911's................................ I can now take a GI 1911 apart and put it back together!

I was happy to see him get an FFL so he is legal now...................

I like the injection of Coke idea, but due to the diabetes I try to stay away from thoses wonderful drinks.

Here's lookin' at you, Kid!

The Colt slide stops broke off at the tip making hem nice for fitting barrels. etc. They were a very poor part.

Are the newer Colt parts any better? I dropped in a new Colt slide stop and tried it will all my magazines and the gun worked perfect just like it did with the Kimber part. I know the Kimber part is a mim. part. Is the Colt part also a mim part?
I tried a Brown Slide stop for the 9mm and it would work with some of the magazines and not with others. I am having to use a 9mm/38super in a DW 45 to get the slide to lock open after the last round is fired. Again both the Kimber and Colt slide stops dropped in and the gun runs perfect with either one of them. Which is the better quality part? Thanks
