I have acquired a 80 series colt slide that has a bomar sight. The sight cut has revealed the plunger hole. The p.o. didnt use the safety mechanism.

If I were to re-fit series 80 parts in the slide, the plunger spring would be up against the bomar slide, the elevation part.
I am pretty much convinced that to have the hole open like this, with the 80 safety, would be a no-no, mainly because of the possibility of the spring to get jammed, kinked, or introduce dirt into the plunger hole cavity.

Looks like Ill be ordering a 80 series spacer in the frame in place of the levers.

You folks agree with me?

thanks in advance.

The only S80 slide I have with a Bomar cut has the "Series 70" cut, ignoring the location of the plunger. I knew, going into it, that the S80 feature would have to be deleted, and figured getting better sights was worth it. I think you're stuck.

On S80 slides, the Bo-Mar sight will extend rewards of the slide about an 1/8" to clear the firing pin block. The hole may be seen after machining, but the spring will not hit the sight.

On S70 slides, the sight will be flush with the rear of the slide.

If your S80 slide has the S70 cut, then the firing pin block will not work and you will need to put the filler block in the frame like you mentioned.
