I recently got this one back from Yost about 30 days ago and carrying it everyday since. 1000 rounds through her & not one malfunction. The guys at Yost were great to work with and very quick! Take a look...

Fine looking Colts. What did you have done at YB?

Fine looking Colts. What did you have done at YB?

I sent the gun to Yost-Bonitz and ordered the 1* Basic Package. In additional to that work done, I had them weld the frame rails up to hard fit the slide to frame (it was just too loose for me).

I also had them polish the slide flats and frame flats.

I had the gun back in 28 days whick I though was pretty quick.

I also had them put my name on the waiting list for Ted to do a "full house" custom job on a pre 70 Series Commercial Colt. (not the one shown in this thread). This build will take a while I am sure, and who knows how long I will be on the waiting list before my name pops up.

That looks great. I recon since I live just a stones throw away from those boys, I oughta go check em out and see what kind of project they can cook up for one of my box stock Pony's!

Nice Colts you got there. Been considering giving a repro S70 a similar treatment. Nice to see the finished product.

How does the trigger and action feel on that re-worked pony?

The work Yo-Bo did on your S70 is awesome! Gorgeous.

At the extreme risk of sounding jealous(I am);what do you think the Yo-Bo folks would say if a customer might prefer to not have the "Yost-Bonitz" logo applied?

Regards,
mike

Action is perfect, very smooth and breaks at about 3.75#. (I had a friend of mine test it with his handy tool)

Oh and these sights rock, really. Great sight picture. Just enough visibility on each side of the front post. I wasn't sure if I would like them but I am very impressed with them and they are extremely useful. I am glad I requested these ones!

I don't think they would mind. After all, it is your gun.

When I first sent the gun in I got a call from Jason to discuss the project and I asked them to not put the "1*" logo on the slide. He said that was fine. I eventually ended up changing my mind.

Although, with thier logo on the side of you gun frame, I am sure it would only add value to your weapon if you were ever to re-sale it. When you have a gun "customized", alot of the time, depending on what you do, it will decrease it's value unless it is done by some "high profile" "well known" custom pistol smith. I would consider allowing them to place thier logo on your gun.

Look at these Swenson guns that are selling for over $6000.00 now. You might have a gun that was worked over by Swenson back in the day, but if it doesn't have his mark, it's just another gun.

Yes they are. I have two Yost-Bonitz guns and the guns are wonderful, and so was the experience. I spent years dreaming of getting a custom gun and wondering who I would send it to, but I won't wonder about where to send them anymore.

Nice guns. I'd like to have a couple just like them.

Just as soon as i can afford it i'm going to send them a Commander for the 1*+ package. There's simply no doubt in my mind as to who'll do the work. YoBo's work is amazing!

I've seen several Armand Swenson guns;one almost needs a magnifying glass to see his actual "mark" which is not on the frame, right? Didn't Mr. Swenson just mark the thumb safties?.

The MUCH BIGGER Yo-Bo tattoo looks out of place to me;ditto any custom-shop logos.
I do like the "bordering" and anti-glare work that give Mr. Swenson's guns a signature look. (I'm not sold on square trigger guards).
$6K is in the "rare postage stamp" realm;"rare" being the operative word. JMHO.

I believe he came up with the "extended" thumb safty and made his from GI surplus stuff and put his mark on them. The guns that carry his actual work are marked near the serial number, very small.
