Took my wife's beloved 9mm apart to clean it noticed some gouging on the bottom of the feed ramp where it comes close to the magazine, I polished the area , got rid of the sharp lip. Hard to see what is going on with a mag in it....should there be contact between the mag and the ramp? or what is going on?.

mags are kimber/ Mccormick and one colt.....we have had trouble with the followers in all 3 brands, they sometimes want to stick in different parts of the magazine , the colt brand did it out of the box and was unuseable until i got home and lightly sanded and polished the edges so at least it would travel up and down the mag body...............I dont think the problems are related. One magazine worked well last week and today the follower was handing up until I did the same thing to it as the colt mag......comments?opinions..?

CMC metal followers are known to gouge aluminum frames. Personally, I wouldn't be using them in an aluminum framed gun.

as for your other mag related woes....try what's available and stick with what works for ya. I run Wilson, Metalform, Novak and CMC--mine all seem to work well, but all needed to be thoroughly cleaned of packing grease and several factory mags needed better springs before they'd feed reliably.

The odd thing here is this is a stainless framed gun, and the gouging is on the ramped barrel . in the 9mm models the feed ramp is part of the barrel, but I see how a mag could ding that.
As far as mags, the market is in need of a good 9mm mag, I think what is available on the market is a compromise..........

Changing to a better spring is not a bad idea even on new mags, even on my wilsons etc............where can I get good springs....???????????
