Hello!

First post to these forums, hopefully I got it in the right place.

I have a Kimber Custom Eclipse II in 10mm that I use for whitetail deer hunting. I would like to make it .40 S&W for practice/plinking. This is all driven by the cost and availability of 10mm ammo vs. .40 ammo (I have to drive 80 miles for a reliable source of 10mm).

I emailed Kimber regarding a new barrel in .40, but they have never replied. Also, there are no gunsmiths that work on 1911's in my area. So here is what I would like to do.

With drop in parts convert it myself. Is this possible/safe?

I know that I would need a new barrel and recoil spring. Where could I find the parts?

Thanks,

Matt N

Brownells, a great source for most parts.

Otherwise directly from manufacturers like Bar-Sto, Kart, Wolff Gunsprings.

Don't consider any parts drop in on the 1911. Some can be, but not too often. And a barrel is the least likely one.
