I've shot about 200 rounds through my new bob tail commander with at least one failiure to feed every mag. Used both factory mags and two Kimber mags.

The fit and finish of the gun is nice and it shoots dead on. Is experiencing that many feeding problems typical of the 1911? I would hate to lose confidence in this gun, as I plan to carry it on occasion.

AJ, This is pretty much the norm for a pistol built as tight as the "DW". I also have a "CBOB" in .45acp and it takes a while to break them in. I, like you had the same issues until around 500 rds were fed through her. Just feed her all the kinds of ammo that you intend to use for self defense and target shooting and she will wear in and feed as she should soon enough. The chambers are pretty tight and some have had issues with Hornady "TAP" rounds. I feed mine "WW", Federal & Remington, she feeds them all without a problem. Just remember to clean her every time you shoot because of the tight tolerances and the investment you made in her, detail strip & clean about every 500 or so rounds and you will be good to go. Good Luck & good shooting.

Thanks for the info., Charlie. I'll put a few more hundred rounds through it and see how it goes.

I had FTF problems with my PM7 when it was new. Check your feed ramp and see if there is a sharp edge. Mine had a sharp edge that my gunsmith promptly stoned down for me. After that the problem was gone. I also have mine running with a 18Lb recoil spring. This seems to have reduced the recoil slightly. Mine is also dead on. Last weekend I took out the entire center of my target out to the two ring on all sides of center with all 100 shots totally on target in black. This was at 25 yards. I will post that target this weekend if I find time.

The Soft Walker standard prescription (it cant hurt):
1) field strip it, clean it and oil it.
2) buy a new GI 7 round magazine
3) make sure your shooting winchester, remington or federal ammo with FMJ bullets.
4) make sure you keep a firm grip and stiff wrist when firing the pistol
5) shoot several boxes of ammo through it.
6) if the gun is still malfunctioning show to a good gun smith.

AJ, any work done by anybody but "DW" can void your warranty, call them if you continue to have issues. They are a small company with good people, and they will answer your call or return your call promptly.

Yup, mags fixed my problem I would have about 1 FTL per 40 rounds when it was new. Got new mags.

As the gun breaks in it operates better. You could tell it was failing to load when dirty, the gun was extremely tight.. It's hard to describe.

I have around a 1000 rounds through it now.

Also, don't limp wrist it... Not saying you do, just sayin!

My DW is my favorite gun.
