hi folks
i bought s slide marked combat target model on left side and series 80 on the right side no other markings, the guy i bought it from swears its a colt slide, but since its not marked i got it for a song. any clues as to what it is or who made it? it is matte black if that helps.
thanks martin

Colt made a Combat Target Model. It was basically a Gold Cup with a flat black finish and less well finished as the Cup. I have one in my collection and have been told Colt only made them 1 year.

hmmm maybe it is a colt i was just looking around and figured out that it has the elliason cut out for the rear sight. thats a weird looking sight. any idea what year they made the combat target and if the slide has any value?

The Combat Target Model was made only in 1996 or 1997.I have the stainless version. There are no Colt markings on the slide at all. http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s229/badbird94/guns/D4660A111.jpg As far as value-it depends on how bad somebody wants one.

So it is like a cheap Gold Cup with out overtravel in the steel? trigger and without serrations in the front of the frame. There may be other stuff also. Interesting.

Mine may be a freak from Colt-but it has the set-screw in the trigger. It is an enhanced Series 80-flattop slide, beveled magwell, lowered and flared ejection port, undercut trigger guard.

Are those what they call Elliason adjustable sights? Why can't Colt just install more sensible adjustables like the Bo-Mar or Wilson?

Why can't Colt just install more sensible adjustables like the Bo-Mar or Wilson?Sensible to whom? These are very nice, they work well, They look good, are MUCH less blocky looking, but that is just my opinion.......sure, you don't have to like them......but I strongly disagree with your statement.
Reminds me of a time when I posted a pic of an Officers ACP I have with Wilson Combat sights on it........ a member said the sights looked "silly". Sheeesh......

I believe the rear sight for the Combat Target Model is what Colt described as ACCRO sight, while those on Gold Cups are Elliason. I believe the difference between the two is that for Elliason, the whole rear blade of the sight moves, while for the ACCRO there is a thinner rear sight blade that rides in a slot and it is this one that moves when adjusting the windage. IMHO, the rear sight blade for the Elliason is kind of like that of the BO-MAR sight, while rear blade sight for the ACCRO is very much like the rear adjustable sight of the smith and wesson revolvers.
