My GCT hammer, if looking from the rear of the gun is off center. It rubs the left side of the frame- the gun shoots fine but should I have it corrected? File down the frame or leave it?

Contact Colt, they should fix it.

The hammer is in contact with the frame. Its lower section is between the frame tongue. Maybe you mean that the hammer rubs the slide? In any case, call Colt as it has been said. They'll fix it for you.

I have seen this in many 1911s, not just Colts. If it is very slight then you might live with it, but I would send it back to the manufacturer, in this case Colt, and have it done right. This is one of the reasons I like to buy "off the rack" and look at even a new gun as a "used gun", which means inspect it.

What ever you do....do NOT file on your frame !!! It bothers you enough to post about it....so I would call Colt. Did you buy it new?

I bought the gun a couple of months ago. Manufac. date is 1997. It was never shot until I bought it. I never had a problem with it though- the gun still functions perfectly. I would like to have the work done where I live (NC) but if I have to send it to Colt, how much would it cost?

The best way to find out what it will cost would be for you to contact Colt.
