Is it common to see the front strap of gold cups serrated when they come with wrap around grips? I was told this gun was all original when I bought it. Does it look correct? I took the wrap around grips off.

My Series GCNM has a serrated front strap. Good looking Colt by the way.

I would think it is common;it has always been a standard feature on GCsAFAIK;but I recently saw a GC with a round top;so ANYTHING is possible these days :scared:

There must be a special recycling dump somewhere for those Colt wrap around grips. (I saved the medallions to make earrings :o )

I have AlumaGrips(thinline) on my S70GC.(should have photo-bility next week)

Mighty correct and mighty fine Gold Cup,matt45.

I have seen them both with and without serrations. Again congratulations on a nice looking gun.

I can see it;
years from now,Colt fans saying,"What a donkey this guy is;ruining "original" Colt rubber grips for jewelry!!"

I'm the guy who used the bridge-cover for a 1959 Stratocaster for an ash-tray(and lost it) :o

I say cut your losses;make the most of whatcha got;right now.

If a wide-spur,checkered hammer looks ridiculous on your Gold Cup,get a S70 Repro. Govt. and it may look better.(?) Ditto the slide release/trigger/MSH.

The original is still the greatest to me;but I like to leave room for...not original.

Not beating the dead horse,
mike
