did it ! http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/sprachlos/speechless-smiley-040.gif

I got a Special Combat Government 45ACP (Hard Chrome). I've been wanting one for a long time. I traded my NIB S70 Satin Nickel Government Model for it but instead of having a gun I would never shoot, I now have one that I will shoot a lot.

A fine example of what Colt's custom shop can do. Nice gun Bill!

Nice! Those Special Combat Government's are tops in my book. They have the bi tone prototype still in the Custom Shop of the SCG.
I am sure you will be pleased, when is the range trip?

Thanks ! That's a scanner picture. You lay it on the scanner, put a towel or other piece of cloth (camo, etc.) on it and scan away. It doesn't do bad.

My "I finally" is not nearly as exciting as getting a SCG(where's the lucky-dog smilies?)

;but just to add to the thread,I finally took my safe queen Ser.70 GC to the range. After 30 years of fondling I finally caved. Unceremoniously digested about 100 rounds. It felt like zero recoil(mushy?) compared to OACPs with same rounds.

Thanks for the sage advice,Joni Lynn! I had a ball shooting hardball :) I'll get the heavier spring for it asap(Wolff, right?)

The rear sight pin loosened a smidge.***How do I unscrew the elevation screw to remove the Elliason?*** I want to clean inside that groove;but I'm not familiar with that little pin beside the adj. screw(s). I have a good set of Chapman screwdrivers.

TIA,
mike

That scanner does a better job with gun pics than my digital camera! Nice SCG!!!!

Sounds like a keeper ( I couldn't have waited that long) and it sure would be exciting to me to first fire an old classic ! :D

It was very enjoyable and anti-climactic at the same time. Just a step on my own path I reckon.

It does feel more like "mine' now.

Sounds sorta funny to hear it referred to as "an old classic"; "I resemble that remark!" :)

No one in posterity could hold it in any higher esteem than I do right now.
