This is an update of my new PT1911 (Best Bang For The Buck) I headed for Flagstaff AZ Last week to do some shooting. There is a guy up there called the Ammo Man. You buy you caps, powder, and lead. Then you reload with his Dillion machines. two hrs later I walked out with 1,000 rounds of 45 acp for 131.00. So what do I do go back the next day for more. Well after shooting for the three days I spent 2,500 rounds of ammo past this MIM and CNC 1911 Clone to find not one darn problem not a burp, hickup, or [PRoblem]. Flkawless opperation!!!! I shot 500 round of Rem UMC ball and then fed it 2000 round of Semi wadcutters reloads at that , and she ate every single one. The first day with the lead between me and my kids she ate 750 rounds of lead then I shot some breakfree in her and ran a rod then shot her some more. :lm: What more can you ask for, SHe was so dirty when the sun started to fade I relized I couldn't see the night sites on her! I paid 565.00 for this 1911 and would pay for another, come to think of it I may just buy the compact and sale my Defender! I don't know what all the fuss is over MIM and CNC parts, but I love this gun!

Surely you must be joking? Taurus could not possibly make a gun that is as reliable as you claim. You must work for Taurus or own stock in them. No, it's not true, you could not be at all satisfied with a firearm that was fabricated in a third-world county located in the bowls of the southern Americas. Also, know one in their right mind could run 2,500 round through any Taurus firearm. It had to have jammed, failed to fire, melted, fallen apart or exploded by the drop of the first mags expenditure. You really need to get rid of that Brazilian chunk of faulty metal before your children's, children suffer the consequences of your inherent actions.

Either way I hope you love your PT1911 as much as I love mine :D . I myself am nowhere near even 1000 rounds. I just hope the old girl makes it that far. We'll just have to bear the stigma of being poor judges of decent weaponry.

Peace

* This posting has been brought to you by someone who actually owns, uses, carries and actually likes Taurus firearms :D .

You guys are too funny! Unfortunately, there are too many "haters" out there that have to validate their choices by knocking someone elses. BTW, this Ammo Man deal sounds pretty good-should become a nationwide franchise. I wouldn't mind knocking out 1000 rounds for $131 and a short afternoons work.

I saw on there web page they had a listing but no info yet, I will say My defender may go on the way side. I had no issue with the colt, but for the money I can buy a 9mm for my kids and a commander for me for the price of the colt. I love the PT1911, and plan to use it in comp shooting soon!

I've got around 1200 through mine. Took a 2 day Advanced pistol class and compete IDPA with mine. I haven't had any issues with mine. Great pistol, the only thing I would like to have done is a trigger job.

I should have posted earlier than now but I have been so freaken busy. I have surpassed the 5k round mark by quite a bit now with my pt1911. I have feed it 300 rounds of round ball,4500+ LSWC I loaded, and 200 RNL I loaded. I have never had a single problem other than when I failed to clean the gun after a session and proceeded to run another 1k through did I experience problems. I have all the stock internals, have changed grips to vz Double diamonds and added a wilson mag guide with wilson 47d mags. I definetly favor this gun much more than my old springfield 1911a1.

I just haven't been as lucky as you guys. I've had the pistol for two months and have had to invest a whole $20 in Hogue grips because I didn't like the stock grips. I also pay dearly for demo ammunition for guys who give me the "is that a Taurus?" question. They are so glad they can stop shooting it that the start smiling before the last round. And it took me almost a whole magazine to figure out the Heine sights.

I have no idea how well the pistol will hold up over the long term (you can say that about any of them), but it shoots very nicely so far. I have to be very picky to find something I don't like about it other than I let a gun dealer talk me out of buying one last fall.

Good to hear everyone is able to validate the reliability and value of the PT-1911. I happen to appreciate all 1911's so it's easy to love my PT. This pistol seems to be introducing a lot of people to the 1911 as well. Keep on shootin'!

7 May bought and put in safe

15 May Removed slide for initial cleaning, ejector fell out. Front pin was sheared.

22 May shipped back to Taurus

12 June Taurus shipped back to wrong address

14 June Called Taurus and provided correct address and was told my gun was replaced with a new one

29 June after 2 hours of paper work confusion, received my PT1911

30 June a few hundred rounds, yes I like. It was worth the wait. Taurus customer service could stand some improvements

20 July shot about 20 rounds, and guess what happened, again?

I originally posted this in the picture thread, but thought this was more appropriate here. Not giving up, I plan on replacing the ejector with perhaps a Colt ejector, but I will definitely not send it back to Taurus. I really like the gun so it is still worth a try.

I bought my PT1911 last August. I've shot the heck out of it & haven't had any problems. I clean it regurally & detail strip it every 500 or so rounds. Except for the finish wearing from the holster, I am very happy with this pistol. I don't really mind the wear issue & have not seen any rust. I have somewhere over 6000 rounds (I quit counting after 4000) through it now. I have use it in USPSA competition & it has seen a lot of range time. I'm off work today, so I'm taking the PT out for some practice.
