I picked up a used Colt Combat Commander and it has some extra free of charge stuff on it. I think I wan to buy the parts to return it to stock. It has a full length guide rod that looks like a "group gripper" on Wilson's web sight and a blue buffer thing. I also believe the the link on the barrel has been changed or notched. The gun looks like very few rounds were fired in it. It also has a beaver tail, nice sights and a nice trigger job.

Can I just get a recoil spring, guide, and plug for a commander for undo this? I hate having to use tools to clean the thing.

It would also be great if some one could tell me what kind of sights and beaver tail I have please.

Thanks in advance.

The notched link is part of the Group Gripper setup. The blue thing is a shok buff ... meant to minimize frame impact on recoil, some like'em, some don't.
No clue on the sights and BT.

If you want to take out the group gripper, you'll have to obtain a standard barrel link to replace the one that's notched for the group gripper. Then you can put in a standard guide rod and plug.

Will this require fitting? or is it something I can do?

Thanks

I believe the beavertail is made by Caspian.... http://www.caspianarms.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CAL&Category_Code=R3 Could be changed out for a Wilson Combat piece if you don't like the "speed bump"..

This is something you can do. Obtain the standard link, punch out the pin on the existing link, install the new one, and put the pin back in......done!

Thanks $20 in parts took care of it. I spoke to my gun smith here locally when I dropped off my S&W 625 for dome work and he hooked me up.

Looks to be an Enhanced Commander with the Caspian grip safety fitted (probably a .250 radius on the frame tangs) so most aftermarket grip safeties with that radius should fit with only needing fit to clear the trigger bow.
I have a lightweight XS Commander with those sights--I believe they are Novak competition sights
