It was not too many months ago, we were discussing somewhere in this Forums, about the possibility of converting a Leatherman, or other such multitool, to be more useful to the 1911 shooting community.

As we all know, the bushing wrench is an indispensable tool for many 1911s these days, while at least three sizes of hex-head (allen) wrenches are used to remove grips screws, and full length guide rods. At least two different screw driver sizes are required, a rather wide but relatively thin one for the grip screws bushings, and another small one for the magazine release.

Even though I have still not abandoned the concept of modifying my Leatherman Wave's can opener to turn it into half-a-bushing-wrench, a much better alternative is now available.

Caspian Arms has just come out with what they call the "Pocketsmith", a multitool made especially for those who shoot a 1911. You may read all about it, in the following places:

- In the Multitools forum, in the thread I've posted there, or
- In the Products Tests section, where a copy of the article that appears in the Home Page, is posted.

Caspian Arms was very kind to send me one of their first production models, which now is permanently in its seath on my belt.
