I want to replace the two-piece guide rod on my Spinger Black Stainless with a one-piece unit. The two-piece unit is consistently unscrewing itself at the range. :(

Based on your personal experience, what brand and model of one-piece rods would you recommend? I know the FLGR vs. GI arrangement argument has been beat to death. I have decided on a one-piece unit and don't want to rehash the old debate. I am just looking for brand recommendations for a one-piece FLGR based on what you may have in your 1911.

I don't mean to start a debate, but you might want try blue lock-tite on the threads between the pieces. I've heard that it works pretty well and if it did it'd save you some money.

I use 2 piece in all mine and have never had the unscrewing problem.

As nico mentioned, try some blue loc-tite.........that will solve it. I've worked on guns with FLGR's and they are a pain to take apart.

I got an EGW one-piece tungsten rod at Brownells. It did'nt work out for me, but I sold it to a friend who shoots a Springfield and he has been very pleased with it. Go to www.brownells.com and search the keywords "guide rod".

Enjoy safe shooting!
