i happen to visit a local gunstore, and i saw from the shelf, a gun component labeled as RECOIL REDUCER, it looks like an ordinary full lenght guide rod but taking a closer look and having a feel on it seem theres something inside..somewhat an oil or something liquid..what does that component do when installed in a gun, does it really minimize recoil effect? im new in this, need some informations i can...thanks, and hoping to get some answers...

That sounds like a Harrts guide rod. It was filled with Mercury. Check out this thread for more information: http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=31683.

Messing with Mercury filled anything sounds scary. I wonder if anyone makes a depleted uranium guide rod yet. :D

HAHAHAHAHA!

I think the use of fissable materials usage in handguns should be left in the capable hands of Birdman Weapons Systems. ;)

I have had one in my Sig 229 for over 10 years, and my Sig 220 for 3 years no problems yet. I did notice a difference on the 229 in 40 but not on the 220 in 45.
