I am looking at putting a bull barrel in a gun im putting together, the reverse guide rod plug has me alittle worried. Is there a reverse guide rod plug i can put in my self without having to mill the slide? (something i could just do some filing with?).

It depends on the brand of slide. Colt slides have a sholder in the slide that would be more to remove than with some that didn't have it.

I used Ed Brown on my Colt Compact. I had to remove about .090" inch off the recoil spring tunnel.

If you use the flange style, you should be able to do evrything with a file....
Briley sells a nice one that also has a bit of extra metal to support the barrel, and fill up the gap... http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=1832&title=1911+AUTO+REVERSE+PLUGS

will the briley plug work with a wilson 2-piece guide rod?

I have one I hope to put in my pistol someday, and a Wilson one piece fits just fine.... I believe that the one and two piece are the same diameter.... If your current setup leaves the rod flush with the end of the bushing, it will stick out a bit with the briley installed... You might have to do a bit of trimming...
