I'm wondering if it's safe to shoot reload ammo through the 1911 plateform since it's got a non fully supported chamber. What do you guys think?

When you say 1911 are you referring to the Sig GSR?
.45 ACP cases are thicker at the web to aid in containing the pressure of the expanding gas where the small portion of the case head is exposed at the barrel throat.
As long as the reloaded ammunition is within safe pressure and the barrel is in spec there should be no troubles.

there's no real difference between a GSR barrel and any other 1911 barrel. As long as you're loading properly and within SAAMI specs, you're good to go.

(I've got about 2500 reloads through my GSR now. 8.0 grains of Accurate #5 under a 230gr FMJ or JHP. 8.7 is a max listed load for a 230gr jacketed projectile. No problems of any kind.)

i'm not reloading myself but buying reloaded ammo, therefore i'm a little concerned with shooting these. i've heard about those 1911 gun blow up stories about using remanufactured ammo. the ones i buy is MI Wall Corp reloads, in the .40 it has functioned perfectly so far but my .40s have fully supported chamber

I'm not familiar with MI Wall, but I (personally) will not shoot any reloads that I didn't make myself. There's too many variables....different powders get used between batches, range brass that's been reloaded one too many times--the worst I've ever seen was a .357 with 2 projectiles stuffed into the brass.

I had a Ser 80 Combat Commander kaboom on a reload that I bought at a local range. The guy who sold it to me gave me a verbal guarantee that it was quality ammo and on the 3rd shot I wound up with a trashed Colt and brass embedded in my shooting glasses. (he was actually a pretty cool guy--he replaced my gun and took that stuff off the shelf before I even left the shop. But NEVER again will I use unknown reloads.)

If I can't control the quality, or have a reasonable expectation of quality, I don't shoot it.....period.

ouch, glad to hear you didn't get hurt. i guess it's a good idea to spend a few extra bucks on factory stuff for the peace of mind that my 1k gun won't go byebye

Miwall sells both factory ammunition and commercial reloads. Online they sell through distributors such as the Outdoor Marksman. They also have a number of gunshows they attend on a regular basis. I've seen their commercial reload ammo and it was okay in a loose chamber but wouldn't chamber in tight match chambers.

The only unsupported chamber issue I've heard of has been with non 1911 firearms chambered in 40 S&W.
