Newbie to the forum here. Just want to say that this site is a gold mine of information. I have spent days on here going over every question I could think of, and have found answers to almost everything.

I just picked up a PT 1911 a couple of weeks ago. Love it. I am trying to improve my shooting skills, and have read some posts concerning dry firing as one of the ways to help. I am just wondering if this will have any negative consequneces on the pistol itself, and if I should maybe invest in some dummy rounds??

Unless you plan to dry shoot your pistol 500 times per day 7 days a week, 365 days a year, no, it won't harm it.

Taurus manual says you should not dry fire. However I would think as long as you have some snap caps your should be fine.

well, in that case, someone from Taurus should explain us their reasoning.

I would not think it would hurt the gun unless,as John mentioned,it was done in extreme excess.
