I see that the new roll marks look more elegant than the old 1991A1's did, are they more collectable? hold higher value? or just depends on the collector? The other question I have is I see that the trigger on the new colts protrudes quite a bit farther than the series 70, but on the thread "show your colts" I see many of the 1991's with the trigger about the same distance as the old series 70, did colt make some like this and others with the longer trigger? or did the owners replace the trigger?

jim young:

The new roll-marked 1911's use a new "long" trigger w/ an aluminum pad. The previous 1991's used a medium-length nylon trigger. The whole trigger thing is pretty subjective, but the new ones do seem pretty dang long.

My personal favorite trigger, believe it or not, is the nylon 1991. For me, the smooth face feels great when shooting extended sessions and w/ an arched mainspring housing the reach is just right.

As to value, since the gun's are relatively new, I'd think it would be tough to tell. Many folks seem to think the new ones are a better value. My thinking is your pretty safe investment-wise buying almost any Colt. :)
