Which Novaks would you install on a 1911? It does not matter what it is for...
It depends. Where do you live? US? Greece? Not the same.
In US, I would go for a tritium front (with a white circle around the vial) and two plain wide dots at the rear.
In Greece, plain three dots.

Are you not alllowed to have Tritium on your sights in Greece? I am in the US.....
Nope! The Greek state is too afraid of the radioactivity emitted by those things! Please God help me keep my mouth shut!

You know how it goes with such things. Tritium today and the next thing you know you've got plutonium everywhere! :lm:

I have a set of Novak's installed Wide Notch 3 Dot Tritium's installed on my Commander and absolutely love them. I just sent them the slide and they did the rest...:)

I personally like Novaks Ghost rear sight (plain black) with a tritium or fiber-optic front. I guess my second choice would be the wide-notch but I really love the Ghost rear!!! ;)

Just purchased my first RI 1911 tactical and was disapointed in the fact that it has plain jane sites. I have enjoyed your discussion on site preference and would like to do one or the other, front or rear in some type of tritium. Which one? What is the advantage of black rear and tritium front? Or vice a versa? Thanks guys for helping a newbie out!

Well ,i have found that in closer range to the target i usually only use the front sight. So i swapped out my front sight on the RIA,made a huge difference getting on the target faster!
If, I were to buy Novak's, it would be Tritium Front / Plain Rear.
What is the advantage of black rear and tritium front?

You won't have something that draws your eye to the rear..........the problem you are having is out in front of the barrel, not at the rear of the slide.

At this point 3 dot tritium has the lead but there are alot that say tritium front and plain rear...... I think that is what I am leaning towards but I think I would go with the wide notch.....
