I just received my Wilson Combat extended slide stop from Midway and it's not working. As near as I can tell it's not making contact with the magazine follower enough to activate the slide stop so that it will lock open the slide. I put this on my Kimber Custom II which with the factory slide stop works as it should everytime. My question is is there anything else that maybe causing this to happen? I have now way to measure it to see if it's the same size as my factory slide stop. Sorry no pictures as I don't have a camera.

Are you using Wilson mags or Kimber factory mags?

I have installed 2 of the Wilson Combat ext slide releases, on my Springfield Stainless, Mill-Spec, and the Black Stainless Tactical.
Both of them worked perfectly, I used the mags that came with the Springers, Chip McCormic Shooting star 8 rounders, and the 8 rounders that came with my Rock Island
I have not had any problems with any parts from Wilson.
Good Luck, Check with Wilson, give them a call.

I'm using Chip Mccormick 8 round Shooting Stars, Meggar 8 round, and one Kimber factory 7 round mags. As I just received this from Midway and am working 12 hour shift right now I haven't had any real time to investigate the problem to any extent so I thought that someone on here could give me some ideas on what to look for. This morning I think I found out what is happening. The pin that goes through the frame seems to be a bit rougher that the pin on the factory stop and is not letting the slide stop move into position. This weekend I will try polishing it and see if that helps.

I believe that I found my problem. The spring in the plunger seems to be a little bit to strong and the slide stop just a bit too rough. Polished the slide stop and that helped but also I need to replace the springs in my magazines as I have a couple that still won't activate the stop when it runs empty. I'm going to order some Wolff +5% mag springs for my older Shooting Stars and see if that will help. I have had these mags for quite awhile so it's probably time to change them out any ways. When I get them and try them out will let everybody know if it works or not, my quess that it will. My new Kimber and a new shooting star mag that I bought when I got the pistol works real well.Next time I detail the gun will polish the plunger tip as well.

I had two of them in my Kimber tacticals and they dropped right in. Went to try one in my new S&W1911PD and the slide won't move with the Wilson stop in place. Only tried this before heading to work this morning so I'll tka e acloser look later.

After the polishing I gave the stop I was able to get to the range and see if it really made a difference. I'm happy to report that it worked each and everytime, locking the slide back on an empty mag just as JMB designed it. I believe that it may get better with time as it gets worn in.
