Every XSE I've looked at (albeit not many) have appeared well put togther, tight, and well finished. The guns are definitely on par or above equivalent competitors. I'd say the only question should be if you can find one for a reasonable asking price... :D

The XS was the original model when Colt started to build the "dressed up" pistols. I've been told that Colt had some supply problems with the original parts used in the XS and later introduced the XSE with parts that many people found to be less desireable and raised the price of the new model of course. I've been told the XS had better fit and finish and better parts, but I'm still looking for one to compare. In my opinion the XSE offers a lot of value for the money.

Hi mitchjoe ,
I have the ( copying from the box)... model 01070XSE Government Model
5" barrel, Brushed Stainless Steel
what 1911 do you have ?

I just sold my Springer Champion, so the only 1911 currently in the fold is a pre-70 Series 9mm Commander. I'm keeping my eyes open for a square deal on a 9mm/ .38 Super 5-inch model. :p
