I have a couple of Sistema colts that I would like to have overhauled by a competent old school 1911 armorer. Im not interested in all the bells and whistles available (not that I dont like them). I would like a good safety check, replace worn parts with GI stuff, a little reliability woork, and a good honest mil spec parkerization. Is there such a smith available. Im in TX but would not hesitate to send the guns anywhere in the US. I just want a gunsmith that really knows his way around the basic 1911. Recommendations wanted. thanks

Marianne Carniak
Troy, MI
(248)528-1552.

Her work is great, her prices are fair and her turnaround time is reasonable and she meets her deadlines. Worth the 40 bucks to ship to her.

Bob Rodgers is definitely worth a look. Great guy to talk with on the phone and all he does is 1911s. Most of what's on his site showcases his custom builds, but he also does a lot of reliability work.

Ditto on Bob Rodgers. I don't personally have anything he's worked on but have spoken to him once or twice. A consumate gentleman and unreal craftsman.
