Tripp Cobra magazines hold the cartridge higher in the frame than other mags. I don't know of a specific mag catch that does that.

STI makes one and you can get it from Brazos Custom.

Hey John,
I need to be sure I'm getting what I'm looking for. The ad I saw stated that you should use their mag catch only if your mag hangs low. STI's part does not state that as such.

(do your mags hang low... do they wobble to and fro... can you tie them in a not... can you tie them in a bow... can you hang them on your shoulder like a continental soldier... la la la...)

What John said. STI's making a mag release that holds the magazine a little higher up. You sure that's what you want though?

We offer one that is .018 to .020 higher that promotes better feeding.

Well, Geez, I hope that answers your question. Most of us gunsmithing types want to know the why and the what-for part before we go for the modifications. So, will .020" do it for you?

I have a few frames that I describe as "holding the top round too low". However that description does not actually mean that that I need a modified magazine catch. Actually, a lot of other dimensions are off, such as frame bed height, distance from slide stop to VIS, distance from VIS to top of ramp, and overall vertical stacking including the slide. It only appears that holding the magazine higher would help.

But of course you probably already thought of those things.

John... Yes, it's what I want

George... I thought it was your site I saw it on but I can't find it now. BTW, the angle bore bushings you sent me are a perfect fit. thx.

Laz... It's a cosmetic problem. One thing my father taught me is that if it doesn't look good it was done wrong. The magazine hanging below the frame has always been a pet peeve of mine. (and I dislike magwells) I have been known to dab a bit of brass on the catch to raise the mag. So, I am hoping the new mag catch could eliminate the process of brazing the catch.

thx guys
