Dovetailed gunsight removal/installation

This question is so basic I am (almost) ashamed to ask it: Is there a specific or preferred direction to remove/install sights into and out of dovetails? :confused:

I believe the most common procedure is:

Installation: Right to Left
Removal: Left to Right

That's the way it was done on my Springfield Mil-Spec and on my CZ 75B.

Looking from the rear of the pistol.....remove from LEFT TO RIGHT.....install from RIGHT TO LEFT.

Easy way to remember it - you "eject" the sights the same way that the empty cartridges get ejected - to the right.

That's true for most pistols with a few exceptions. Sig "Classic" pistol sights get removed right to left.
