Link Length the problem?

I just picked up a Para-Caspian that had a broken link replaced.Now when I dis-and re-assemble the pistol-it is .040 short of going into battery.The thumb safetyy will not engage.Do I need a longer link or do you think that there is some other problem?Thanks.

Could be a short link. I assume nothing else was done? Take the barrel out and stick the slide stop pin through the link, see if it will slide around the lugs and stop on the lug feet. If it stops short of the feet, a longer link may be in order. or cutting the lugs to fit the shorter link.
