Well I went out on Saturday, purchased the GI series MS Parkerized w/ 4" barrel, I love it. It shot way better than my glock, when it wasn't choking on wad cutters, about the only stupid purchase I made on Saturday. The FMJ seem to have no problem though :D

Ok well its been a while I'll have to dig up some pics.

But here is an update, I purchased a bobtail for the RIA thats the only Mod I have made to the weapon. 18 months later it still shoots **** straight and is making a nice carry gun. It also helped give me the push to drop the extra 20 lbs I had been carrying since college. Nothing worse than a gun sticking into your side.

My 1911s are Colts, Springers, and RIAs... You're going to be fine with your RIA! Mine has been reliable and accurate, and my dad's which I gave him for Christmas last year, is also great. Ivan's customer service in Nevada is second to NONE. I've had several folks want to buy my Rock, and needless to say, I've STILL got it and intend to keep it. It's sporting some curly maple grips, right now, as much as I love the Phillipine Mahoganies it came with (although, I have, from Ivan, a couple of extra sets of THOSE).

My Rock is well worthy of refinishing, and I'm planning to have it hard-chromed. As it is, it's Parked, and I DO carry it: I currently have two guns I carry, the Rock, and my Springer Mil-Spec. The Rock proved itself on the range. I'm proud to have it. My dad is in awe of his. He is a decorated and wounded WWII veteran, and has many guns--including my step-grandfather's LEO service revolver, a Smith and Wesson .38 Special--but that Rock I gave him, in .45 ACP, is his most beloved.

Welcome to the fraternity, Sir. You all take care and be safe, and y'all have a great weekend.

Mick, as I have said before my friend I really enjoy reading your posts. :) :)

As we know, the Rocks are good guns! Many of my gun buddies, both male and female, are not familiar with them, but they're learning from me and my dad. Not many dealers here in Texas, YET. My FFL guy, a Colt man, has of course seen and handled the two RIAs... I always give him permission to handle the guns I have sent to him.

Thank you for your compliments, sir. I love my Rock as much as any other of my weapons, I'm not into "brand names", I'm into function and reliability. In a defensive situation, the name on the slide don't matter: the reliability and the function are ALL that COUNT. My guns, including the Rock, have run and continue to run circles around hand-builts and other brands on the range, with factory ammo and function/reliability are ALL that count to me, not manufacturer's names stamped on the slides. I do love my Rock, and I hope in the next 6 months, to give it a little better "lease on life" with a hard-chroming. As it is, it works. I really don't mind the Park, since I've learned how to maintain it; and the OEM Novaks mag, works fine, as well as my Springer mags, in the Rock. The Rock is a honey. Just a honey.

Little late tonight, but, tomorrow, I'll see if I can take some photos of it with the curly/bird's eye maple grips for y'all, and share them here. They really look good on the black matte Park finish, although I DO love the dark Phillipine Mahagonies Rock Island puts on ours from the factory... I bought two sets from Ivan, after I got the two Rocks last year, and I love them.

Yes, I LOVE good 1911/A1s. For ME, maybe not all folks, they're the easiest to carry, brandish, fire, strip, clean, lube, maintain... They fit my hand and they fit my eye and they fit my hip. Concealed or open. Defensively, the .45 ACP is a good round. I've read the .38 Super is as well, we'll see. But, my .45s are my "primaries". INCLUDING my Rock. I love it. So does my dad love his. My Rock is reliable, proven, just like my Springer Mil-Spec and my Colt USGI 1911 1918 manufacture. That is what counts, to me... and really, that is ALL that counts.

You, sir, take care and be safe, and may you and yours have a great weekend!

Mick
