My Colt 70 series shoots 2 inches low at 50 feet with the load both it and I like - (200g Laser Cast SWC over 4.5g N310)

I can't find the formula to determine how much to file the front sight to raise the point of impact.

Would someone please help me?

Thanks, Art

Hi Art,

If:

A (back sight to target)
B (back sight to front sight)
C (POI to POA)
D (distance to move/file sight)

Then, by similar triangles:

C/D = A/B

or,

D = B*C/A

with your numbers,

D = 6.5" * 2" / 600"

and,

D = 0.02"

Thanks Bill - that's just what I was after

I'll start with lowering the sight .010 - .015" and shoot to see how it does.
