Hello all. New guy here. I've been a Sig disciple for years. But after shooting my LT's Lightweight Cmndr at the range a couple of weeks ago, I thanked him profusely, went home, got on Gunbroker, and purchased my first Colt - a stainless 1991 Commander. Just waiting (anxiously) for it to be delivered to my doorstep. It's going to be my off-duty gun, as the P226 is still in my duty holster....for now.

Yep, I'm already shopping for a new Colt to replace the Sig. I'm leaning toward a blued XSE Govt, or the Special Combat Govt (which I really like based on looks alone). Which means I'll probably buy the latter.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here, and I'll post pics when the new Pony arrives.

Welcome to the forum and welcome to Colt. The 1991 is an excellent pistol (I have a stainless one in Super .38). Man you have been bitten by the Colt bug. Also know as Coltits but I believe you will be well pleased with your new affliction :D
When you get your new Colt please post some pictures.

Hi, I recently converted from a Sig 229 which I carried since the early 90's to a 45 Colt Defender and Springfield EMP 9 mm. After buying the Springer on a whim, I decided that the 1911 platform was the best suited gun for me. I then bought the Colt Defender and retired the 229. I recently added a RIA GI.

The perfect example of a severe case of Coltitis, with serious doses of 1911-itis thrown in for a good measure.

I have the affliction myself....just bought a WWI repro and must have another! If i can keep it together long enough to wait i'll find a nice commander on gunbroker!

Oh, BTW, welcome to the forum!

Hi, I recently converted from a Sig 229

I'm actually considering trading the Sig toward my next Colt. I never thought I'd hear myself say those words! But let's face it, I'm not stopping with the next Horsey, so I might as well make room by culling some of the, gulp, lesser guns. Hopefully, once I track down a SCG it will be as suitable a duty weapon as I'm thinking it will be. If not, who cares. There will be more.

dogbone,
Welcome to the forum! :D
Unlike some of my esteemed colleagues, I have reached something of a plateau, as far as my Colt purchases are concerned. This has more to do with my time available, than my desire to own more. (I shoot all of mine, and the rotation is full, at the moment!) Enjoy your new Commander, be sure to post photos when it arrives, and prepare room for the others that will inevitably follow. ;)

Yeah and if you add the time required to do the reviews of those nice toys I send you .... you are definitely out of time! LoRL

Welcome to the forum.
Coltitis is a contagious affliction and you'll be over exposed to it here.
The Colt SCG is a realy nice 1911 and I think one of the better 1911's that Colt has turned out in many years.

Welcome to the forum and looks like you have some nice Colt's waiting to come home to you! The SCG is a very smooth pistol, I've only shot mine twice, but it is a real good shooter and very accurate.

They have a point about shooting rotation, I have 2 Colt revolvers that haven't been out to the range and a S&W 1911 that has been waiting about a year! I shoot monthly and after I put my favorites in the bag, there's a bunch that just has to wait!

I just need to find one so I can see if my hands love it as much as my eyes do. I'm not sure how suitable it is as a duty pistol, as Colt seems to be marketing it as a target/comp. gun. I've seen comp. style pistols that looked and worked great until they got a little dirty. They can be a tad tight. Hope (and suspect) that's not the case with the SCG.

Factory Colt's, no matter the model, aren't built that tight. ;)

+1 to what OD said. You'll love an SCG.
