I have an pre 70 series combat commander in nickel, it came with some white metal gold second amendment grips, they look ok but I want to return the gun to original colt parts. I have fount these grips and was wondering if they are original? they are black with the colt logo but not a medallion, they are a bigger molded in colt logo on both sides? has any one seen these? I assume they are original if they have the colt logo. am I wrong? thanks img219.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img219&image=coltgrips5go.jpg]http://img219.exs.cx/img219/5981/coltgrips5go.th.jpg
I have a chance to buy the ones pictured or the a set of wood medallion grips. It came with plain black grips, no logos. which would be the better to make it closest to original? or as long as it is original colt, maybe it does not matter.

The originals came with checkered wood stocks with Gold medallions. I have a set if you're interested. They are not in excellent shape, but are in very good shape. Probably need to be refinished.

I thought the pre-70 Series Combat Commanders came with the semi-smooth light walnut grips w/ silver medallions? The switch to checkered w/ gold medallion would be the 70 Series/ MKIV? :confused:

From what I gather, the Commanders & Gov. Models sported the same grips. These are off a Commander from 1978.

my commander is bead blasted nickel bottom with shinny nickel slide, the slide on the left is marked;
commander automatic rampant
* model* colt caliber 45
the right side of the slide is marked colts commander model the frame is marked with the colts address and the serial no is clw0420xx the spring housing is strait and the only thing that is I think not original are the front and rear sights, img159.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img159&image=coltcommander27kw.jpg]http://img159.exs.cx/img159/7781/coltcommander27kw.th.jpg
