Recently, after about 40+ years of intermittent use, my Viet Nam era pilots military red/white flashlight finally gave up the ghost. It used two AA batteries and would go for ages on a set of batteries. After looking through literally hundreds of potential replacements I found a flashlight that I had no idea even existed. Actually it has only existed for a short period of time from what I can tell.. Energizer is marketing it under its company name and it comes with a lifetime warranty. The light operates on two AA batteries, has a brilliant white light, bright red and blue LED lights, and a totally invisible infrared light that operates steady-state or strobe. My POS Gen-I night scope can pick up the Energizer's infrared light to at least 40 yards. However, it does not seem designed to function as an infrared illuminator, at least for Gen-I scopes. This flashlight is not cheap but it is a quality made piece of equipment that will revolutionize the way we look at tactical flashlights. Take a look for yourself at: http://www.opticsplanet.net/energizer-hard-case-tactical-led-ir-flashlight.html I have no financial interest whatever in this item. I am just very pleased with my purchase.
