i have an imbel 1911... I noticed that when I lower the hammer down, it seems that the sear it slightly making contact with the hammer half cock notch. I tried to pull the trigger slightly harder while slowly putting the hammer down and i still could feel that it is still the same. how can I correct this problem? tnx.... anybody else who could chip in an advise would be appreciated... tnx

Hi

Does your trigger have an over travel screw on it? In other words is it an adjustable trigger?

The situation you describe is a common one on an adjustable trigger that is set "to tight".

Yep, that would be my first guess........back the screw out. Then check the sear nose, it's probably messed up enough that your trigger pull will feel gritty.

i tried to lessen the tension on the sear spring (too much tension on the sear) and became a better a bit... I'll try backing up the trigger OT screw...keep you posted...

Hi

Best guess would be to back the screw out by about a turn and see if that helps or not. My guess is that it will take care of it.

As mentioned above, take a look at the sear. It may have some "rounding". It's not just a feel issue. With the edge rounded off you don't have as much contact between the sear and hammer as you should.

Another happy customer. Now go and put some more pressure back on your sear spring.
