Does anyone know when Colt switched from forged or bar stock to cast and MIM for the various parts that are cast or MIM? I have two 1991A1s purchased in different years and would like to know which parts in each gun are cast or MIM so that I can replace them. It seems that I recall seeing a recent history of Colt parts somewhere on the web, I cann't find the source now. Can anyone direct me to that site?

Grant:
Why would you want to replace "all" the MIM or cast parts? Colt mostly limited their use to parts where one or either of these manufacturing methods would provide fine service. The only "problem" part I've heard about were the MIM extractors and they were only used for a short time.
Are you having any problems?

Darn, if I had the money to replace all MIM parts, I could....:D
Seriously, besides the extractor, I would not change anything until it broke. MIM seems to be getting better. (I belong to the lazy club of "If it ain't broke, don't fixit")
