I don't recall ever seeing one... but if you can find a photo it sure would be nice... sounds like a good looking Mil-Spec though.

Did Springfield ever make an OD green Mil-Spec?

I think they made a OD green mil spec in 2005.

Here is a picture of the pistol I am refering to.

Wow, Cock & Locked, I need some  on lookin' at that one... ;)

Longslide, I am thinking now that I recall seeing a "Bi-Tone" Mil-Spec listed about three years ago on SA's website. About the same time they offered the Mil-Spec in 9mm.

About 2-3 years ago, when I decided to get an M1911, I came here to this Forum, lurked around and made my decision on a Springfield Mil-Spec. At the time, there were four models available: Parkerized, stainless, OD Green and the Bi-Tone. And that bi-tone looked awfully sexy, so that's what I decided to get.

Well, I couldn't find one to save my life. I had a hard time even finding a Mil-Spec of any kind. I eventually found a used Parkerized model, so I "settled" for it. Not that I regret the choice. That Mil-Spec has been 100% reliable. Feels good. Looks good. No regrets.

I still have yet to see a bi-tone in the flesh, though. Never say an OD Green one either, for that matter. Just Parkerized and stainless.

I guess you could always buy a stainless Mil-Spec and have Springfield black Armory Kote the slide and all the small pieces and "create" a bi-tone model. I don't know if the added cost would be worth it though.

Not to digress from the "Bi-Tone" topic, but what I want to do is buy a Mil-Spec and send it back to Springfield's Custom Shop for their nice blueing services.

But your idea is very feasible, Tom.... and surely would work. I guess a guy could always order one from SA done like that. Probably still a Custom Shop gun.

I have one, it was manufactured in 2004. I have pictures up on here somewhere, but I removed the blue from the slide, then parkerized and duracoated it (some fool got a little happy with the Flitz on the slide and wore it really thin).

Here is the actual pistol that I have been oggling. I think you are right about 2004 - now that I think back -- The first quarter of 2005 was the last time I saw it on the SA website.

I am wondering if it ever was made in the "LOADED" CONFIGURATION????

Or if it only came in the mil spec variety???

I got lucky in April of 2005 and found one at a not so local gun store here in Colorado. It was the only one I had seen locally, and at the store. Afterward I don't think I've seen one anywhere, and not long afterward the photo disappeared from SA's website. I have to laugh at myself a bit because originally I had a black stainless on hold but decided the milspec bi-tone would be the way to go, since it wouldn't be as expensive, and I could get custom work done to her if I wanted. I keep drooling on myself as to what modifications I'm going to have done to it. However I just don't want to loose the bi-tone look she has. Enough of me talking about her, I'll get photo's up asap.
