Hello to everyone, feels like i know everybody already.(lurking around here for over a year) The information i've gleemed from this forum, has helped me understand the workings of a pistol i thought i new very well. A very sincere
thank you!
You know there are three things in life a man should have, one a good Wife, two a good Harley, and three a Colt. I better add number four,my
Cocker Spaniel, a true friend for life.
This is the first new gun i have bought,in five years. Prices have really gone up,well i guess everything has. I would have to say this is the best $850.00,i've spent on a gun. This Colt is like seeing an old friend again, its been thirty seven years since i've shot one.(i love this Colt) I'am using this Colt for physical therapy also,i had a bad accident with the Harley. Rotator Cup problems, compound fracture of the clavicle. Right now my shots are all over the target,my arm gets tired fast. Ok, enough rambling.

Welcome to the forum. That is a beautiful Colt and I would agree that is about as good a pistol money can buy. Nice job on the pictures.
I like your list and a Dyna Wide Glide is in my future. How soon depends on when I can stop buying Colts long enough to save up a down payment.
Nice Colt!

Welcome to the forum! Glad you came around and joined the family!

You picked a great model to shoot............of course the horsey is always a good choice!

I noticed the pin in the middle of the patch, is that Colt pin or a unit pin? Very nice looking.

Blackhorse,
I hope I'm not being redundant by throwing out the "Welcome" mat for you. We are indeed pleased to have you in the forum. That is a beautiful Mk IV/Series 70 current production pistol! I should know, as I own two of its brothers. :)

Welcome! Great pistol, good philosophy. Pistol shooting as physical therapy is a great idea. Would be even better if it was covered by the insurance company!

Nice Colt, Blackhorse...and welcome to the forum! What kind of Harley, by the way? Hunter, you'll love the Dyna Wide Glide--I see a lot of them in my Harley Owner's Group chapter.

Welcome. Nice gun. I recently got back into Colts having gone for years into the land of the clones. My 10 year old Cocker is a brilliant and loyal friend, although he is starting to show his age (like his master).

OD has in mind separating you from some of your dollars for a Colt! Beware of the BHB OD, he has struck before! He has bitten Hunter and yours truly, so far.

He suckered me in when I mumbled something about liking Diamondbacks. Before I knew it, there was a very nice 6" at my FFL. I must say though, it is very nice, reasonably priced AND had a spare set of like new Square Bottom Colt Medallion Walnut Stocks. Those happen to be my favorite for this pistol, and I got it with 2 sets of them!

I think OD sells more guns just hangin' out than the guys at the shop he works at do behind the counter. I think he takes notes on what we want and endeavors to come up with it....

BEAUTIFUL Colt's. I have four, so out of 7, my majority are Colt's. Love my USGI from 1918, my WWI Repro, my O1991, and my 38 Super Model Govt...

I also love motorcycling. Haven't had a ride since 1996. I want a Sporty, as that may be the only Harley I can afford in a couple of years... almost had one back in 2001, but computer went belly-up and there went my down payment on the 1200. There is NOTHING like a ride. Nothing. Folks who have never experienced a motorcycle, like a 1911, just don't understand.

Good woman, I WISH. I hope.

Although I LOVE ALL my guns, my Colt's are special to me. The first 1911 I ever handled and cleaned was a work buddy's Mark IV Govt. They are the ORIGINALS. First Lady IS the ORIGINAL. My Springers are great, as is my Rock Island... but, my Colt's have a special place in my heart and mind.

Welcome to the Forum, sir! You're in GREAT company here!

Mick

Hey now?! I'll have you know we don't get a commission and when I hooked ... er ... ah ... sold the pistols to Hunter, you and Black Talon, I did it out of my Black Hearted kindness. http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/pirate.gif

You said it, Jeff!

Hee hee, clug and Jeff... Amen. On rides, I'm like I am on 1911s: Meat and potatoes, if it works, don't fix it. I DO like a windshield on my rides... belt drive on secondary, and mag wheels as opposed to spokes, all less maintenance. If I had a woman, that would be a consideration on a ride, as well as my guns; but 1200 (or 1188) cc's is 1200 cc's, regardless. Lean and functional on the Sporty. Used to know a guy in Odessa that was boring out the 883s to use Chevy 305 pistons and rods, and those things were HOT. I mean, HOT. My Kaw 454LTD, last ride I had, was "worked over"; it appealled to my Harley buds because unlike most Japanese bikes, it didn't "whine", it rumbled on idle, and growled on accelaration; several of them said that was the only ricer they'd ever seen that was like that. It worked. But, if I ever get another ride, it'll be a Harley Davidson Motor Cycle.

Colts? Reckon, as much as I love my Rock and two Springers, as well as my Taurus and Rugers, I'm a Colt's man by numbers: 4 to 2 to 1 to 2 to 1. They're all good guns, but my Colt's are phsycologically special, especially my USGI from 1918. They ALL work. Including First Lady, the REAL 1911 Colt.

There are MANY good brands of 1911s out there, and I am EXTREMELY thankful that the interest is there to support ALL of them: I LOVE this platform. Other than a good rifle, I truly doubt any handgun I ever buy in the future will NOT be a 1911 platform. That's just my preference now. I wish I hadn't gone so long in my life, before I got one, and before I got a Colt's.

Hee hee, OD* is one of MY mentors here. Regardless of what my Bro Hunter may call him, true, he's NOT a liar, he is a dang wealth of information on EVERYTHING 1911. So is Hunter.

Y'all take care.
Mick
